Tiivistelmä:Media companies in the environmental context of digital convergence are confronted with a new competitive landscape. As a consequence the compositions of the media companies' project portfolios are shifting into the direction towards more complex projects and projects with an open task. In this setting the managerial flexibility to dynamically adapt the projects' management with respect to new information is of great value. In contrast to the traditional net present value rule real option theory is able to recognise and value this flexibility. Within this conceptual paper the authors therefore sketch the different modes in which real option theory can contribute to the subsequent phases of the media companies' multi-project management.
