Tiivistelmä:The paper states that leaders can reduce potential sources of misalignment by drawing from the psychological insights emerging from research with trauma victims. This research holds some practical implications for strategic change leadership and is summarized under the term Assumptive World Theory. Assumptive World Theory argues that we each live in a world based upon a wide range of explicit and implicit assumptions. When those assumptions are challenged, trauma results. The trauma may produce a range of reactions, from stress and anxiety to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Though strategic change seldom leads to PTSD, it can challenge the assumptions upon which the organization's culture is built. Then, resistance is a near certain response.
