| Tiivistelmä: | This paper focuses on the evolution of business strategies (hereafter as: bus-strs.) and network structure (here as: net-str./net-strs.) decisions in the commercial passenger aviation industry. Reviewed is the growth of hub-and-spoke networks as the dominant business model following deregulation in the 20th century, followed by the emergence of value-based airlines (VBAs) at the end of the century. The link btw. airline bus-strs. and net-strs. is highlighted. The resulting competition is examined btw. divergent net-str. business models. |
