Tiivistelmä: | This article examines the determinants of self-employment in United Kingdom using British micro panel data. The results indicate that self-employment status contains a strong state-dependence or inertia effect. Cross-sectional and temporal variation in local market conditions has no significant influence. The growth in self-employment appears to be largely structural phenomen and explanations for this are discussed. |
