Tiivistelmä: | This article explores the effect of person-related characteristics and the regional context on individual start-up activities. Based on micro data from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) it is shown that individual characteristics and regional factors have an effect on the decision to become self-employed. Significant differences between nascent opportunity entrepreneurship and nascent necessity entrepreneurship are found. |
