| Tiivistelmä: | The Dutch Finance Minister announced that from 1988 the Dutch banks have to inform tax authorities about their clients interest earnings on savings. In a sharp reaction, Dutch citizens have started to bring their money to Belgium and other neighboring countries. In addition to this loss, the saving banks have problems with the increased competition from the Postbank and insurance companies, the latter having favorable tax treatment. On the other hand, Belgian savings banks are much more successful, their market share is increasing. |
