Tiivistelmä:In 1988 the Belgian economy made a strong recovery from the slump that began in 1983, with overall consumption of goods and services rising by 9.5 p.c. The population structure is analysed, and the personal spending power of Flemish and Wallon people is compared. Some tables showing demography of Belgium are presented. Regional characteristics, and household population and size 1985-1989 are given. Household facilities and ownership of durables are analyzed. The work pattern analysis contains data on major occupations, employment pattern and unemployment rate figures. Shopping habits, the use of leisure time, and personal finance in the country are examined. Consumer spending by category 1985/1988, and social trends are given.
