| Tiivistelmä: | The article assesses legal development in England and Wales. A recent case in which Poole Borough Council was taken to the High Court is described, raising unsolved questions of who has the legal right to take cases which threaten environmental interests against to the owners of land in question. The author examines the changes in environmental regulation which have coincided to restructure its basis over the past five years. The implementation of Environmental Protection Act 1990, Water Resources Act 1991, the Drinking Water Directive, the Bathing Water Directive and the Directive on Urban Waste Water Treatment is reviewed. Future strategies are outlined. The author states that recycling and waste minimization are likely to be the priorities. |
