Tiivistelmä: | When General Motors' top management was getting headlines last year, it was widely reported that the company ranked last among the big three American automakers in productivity. But GM is a productivity leader in one area: toxic waste. The Detroit, Michigan-based company released nearly three times more toxic material than either Ford or Chrysler in 1988 and 1989. GM is one of eight companies named by the Council on Economic Priorities (CEP) as America's worst polluters. The others are Cargill, DuPont, General Electric, Georgia-Pacific, MAXXAM, Rockwell, and USX. |
