| Tiivistelmä: | Attention is focused on three of the acid-rain models. They combine state-of-the-art computing capabilities with the theoretical strengths of uncertainty analysis, thus providing examples of the design of interactive computer models as decision aids for dealing with a complex environmental problem. The designs of the models are compared. The representation of uncertainty is described. The strengths and weaknesses of each method used are discussed. The impact of the models is considered, and finally, the various unresolved problems encountered in these models are discussed, providing practical suggestions for research. |
