Tiivistelmä:Common organizational theories suggest that the ultimate goal for firms and their managers is company survival. On the other hand, failure in any form is often viewed as a result of managerial 'bungling'. Many theories also have the core assumption that firms have long, even limitless, life-cycles. This article provides broad empirical evidence to support the claim that most firms actually survive relatively short periods.
