| Tiivistelmä: | In recent years there have been significant increases in union concessions and in joint programs with management,such as quality circles and quality of worklife programs. A survey in New England manufacturing companies indicated that economic pressures alone did not improve labor/management relationships. Better relations and concessions are more likely when management takes the initiative in instituting its own concessions and in implementing cooperative programs with the unions. Cooperation also depends on the establishment of new union-management communication mechanisms. The legitimacy of the newer collaborative and bargaining structures. The role of personalities. |
