| Tiivistelmä: | Based on an analysis covering the period 1950-1980, it is shown that the degree of cohesion within the employers' group and the degree of unity within the labour movement are determining factors to collective bargaining at company and at industry level. Two subsystems of collective bargaining are identified: the first one, specific to oligopolistic industries (steel, oil, glass, cement), is based on the connection between company level and industry level, while in the second one, found in the majority of industries (metallurgy, construction, chemistry), these levels remain separate. This analytical framework leads to a typology of company level agreements accounting for their large variety, their range and their significance. |
