| Tiivistelmä: | The range of science fiction programs in prime time is surveyed across television's history. Specifically, Star Trek, and Star Treck: The Next Generation are examined. Science fiction programs present images of future society and the relationship between technological and social progress. These programs offer a safe vision of the future. In this way TV reinforces the socially constructed technological imperative of industrial societies. |
