| Tiivistelmä: | This paper deals with two puzzles in international trade, that is, i. why traditional estimates of income elasticities of exports are improbably high and ii. why export growth varies much more markedly across countries than can be explained by changes in price competitiveness (here as: cmp-ss.) and variations in income growth in export markets. Based on data for 18 OECD countries, it is shown that market integration and the level of technology and cmp-ss. are able to explain these two puzzles to some extent. |
