| Tiivistelmä: | As at Maastricht some five years ago, social issues are sure to be both prominent and controversial ass the discussions at the current Intergovernmental Conference (IGC) in Turin move towards their conclusion. The authors review the positions of the key bodies involved on the place of employment matters in the revised Treaty. Of key importance in the negotiations will be social policy, social rights - interpreted either as the rights of workers or of citizens more widely - and, in the light of persistent high unemployment across the EU, employment. |
