| Tiivistelmä: | The Commission has issued its first comprehensive assessment of how member states are faring in implementing the European employment strategy. The article reviews the assessment on a country-by-country basis and detail the main changes contained in the Commission's 1999 employment guidelines. Provision for a European employment strategy to ensure a counterweight to European economic and monetary union is contained in the employment chapter of the new Amsterdam Tready, June 1997. |
