| Tiivistelmä: | The world economy is interdependent. One of the most important economic factors is the transfer of capital and technology across national boundaries through direct investment by firms. By investing in other countries, firms can create new employment in, and transfer technology to, the host country. At the same time direct investment inflows increase foreign ownership and control of the host economy. Canada and the United States share the largest bilateral trade and investment flows in the world, presenting an example of this process. |
