| Tiivistelmä: | Some cases are reviewed when crisis situations can occur. (Radical market changes, strikes, a breakdown in production or information technology, the leave of an important top manager.) The most important elements of a crisis situation are characterized. Some empirical observations regarding the behaviour of management in crisis situations are described. Several types of pathological behaviour are identified on the basis of information distortion, reduced rationality and responsibility, organizational rigidities and others. Therefore the quality of decisions can be threatened. Some therapeutic measures are offered: improving the quality of information, the application of team work, using experts, training, forecasting. |
