Toothpaste accounted for 57% of retail value, followed by toothbrushes with 23%. Sales of mouthwashes fell off sharply 1995, following adverse publicity over their alleged tooth-eroding properties. The denture care sectors have been fairly static. Dental floss and tapes accounted for less than 2% of market value in 1996. Corporate Intelligence on Retailing expects market value to reach 624 mn pounds by 2001, a rise of 35% on 1996 levels. |
