Tiivistelmä:Starting from April, 1991, the state began to reduce the tariff rates of import goods, by a large margin, with average tariff rate dropping from 35.9% to 23%. This adjustment has not affected greatly the prices of imported timber and the timber market has been relatively stable. Generally, the imported log is not listed in the scope of this downward adjustment. But for some special varieties like teakwood, their tariff rates have been reduced, by a large margin. As most of them are imported by means of frontier trade transactions and their cost and prices have nothing to do with tariff, they have not been influenced by this adjustment.
