Tiivistelmä:To assess corporate social responsibility (CSR), a new methodology has been developed for dealing better with a situation where top-down and command-and-control ways of management are not successful. The suggested and tested method is a second order governance process combining phases of 'opening up' and 'closing down'. As a case study, the method has been modified and applied to one of Germany's major aluminium processing sites, involving management, staff, customers, suppliers, and local stakeholders. The sets of ten indicators are presented, each of which are derived for the economic, environmental, social and institutional dimensions.
