Tiivistelmä:This paper examines how one important individual aspect, self-esteem (hereafter as: s-est.), influences imposition and subsequent processing of ambiguously, negatively or positively framed decision tasks. It is hypothesized that low s-est. (LSE) individuals would impose a negative frame (as: neg-frm.) onto ambiguous decision problems, being especially sensitive to neg-frm-ed. decision tasks. It is shown that high self-esteem (HSE) participants were evenly divided in the hedonic valence they self-imposed (as: s-imp.) whereas LSE participants were more likely to s-imp. a neg-frm. Taking these differences into account, HSE and LSE participants were equivalent in risk seeking / avoiding choices. It is also found that that LSE individuals were especially sensitive to the negative frame. In addition, there is provided converging evidence etc. of these findings to a reflection tasks involving money.
