| Tiivistelmä: | This template (hereafter as: T.) is based on the principle of communicative competence and content-based instructional design (here as: i-dn.) techniques aiming to respond to the i-dn. concerns coming out of a growing demand for foreign language (as: lng./lngs.) courses (as: c./cs.) focusing either on specific contexts (business, health, and law) or on less commonly taught lngs. Although c. instructors (as: instr./instrs.) will find that the c. design process may require the expertise of editors, filmmakers, graphic designers etc., the T. is designed primarily for the lng. instr. The T. will benefit both seasoned and newer lng. instrs. and instrs. with little as well as extensive background knowledge of the content area. The T. provides special purpose lng. and less commonly taught lng. c. designers with the theoretical rationale behind "learning language by using language". The T. ends with a short discussion of resources to be used in developing supporting media. |
