| Tiivistelmä: | With the race to prepare for the single market almost over, the marathon of developing, implementing and enjoying the benefits of long-term integrated language strategies can now commence. The author shows the importance of successful use of foreign languages in the context of integration. Language requirements for different organizations are outlined. The major components of the language strategy including translations, overseas advertising, interpreting services, language and cultural awareness training, are analysed. The "quality" dimension is described and the negative impact of not handling it well is examined. |
