| Tiivistelmä: | The public is showing an ever-increasing interest in expert systems, also known as knowledge-based systems in the Anglo-American linguistic area, or in short XPS, a part-area of the so-called "artificial intelligence". Whereas expert systems were highly stylized to "wonder machines" until just recently, they are now rated more realistically in both theory and practice. In certain areas of application, which are not deemed suitable for conventional programmes, they can prove a valuable contribution. Some improvements in the existing expert systems are suggested. Some examples of application are reviewed: company audit, controlling. The inside structure of COGENSYS is described. |
