| Tiivistelmä: | Today the main issue is how to manage the global pipeline and how to organize logistics and supply chain activities. To increase efficiency and effectiveness , structural changes in different parts of the supply chain are often necessary. This paper focuses on structural changes and the effects on materials management, production, physical distribution, and sales. Using case studies, this paper identified five different structural changes which affected the organization of logistics, marketing and sales activities. It was possible to centralize physical and administrative activities and maintain a decentralized sales organization, by using modern information technology. Customer service was improved and total distribution costs were reduced by 30-50%. |
