| Tiivistelmä: | Analyses show that drastic reductions of the throughput time can only be achieved by structural changes in the production area, which imply a disentanglement of the production interdependences and a stronger product orientation. These structural changes lead to production segments. They are defined as product oriented organisational units in the production area which contain several stages of the logistic chain and which are dedicated for a specific competitive strategy. Production segments are also characterised by the integration of planning and indirect functions and are often organized as cost-centers. |
