Tiivistelmä: | This study examines the links between firms' strategic initiatives and their growth, profitability and asset utilization, using information provided over 450 small firms throughout Ireland. Strategy choice has an important link to business growth and profitability but not to asset utilization. However, growth and profitability linkages often operated in opposite directions. The appropriate strategy choices depend strongly on the firm's business priorities. The strongest growth associations were with the introduction of management accounting systems, and of new/improved products and moves to centralize ownership. |
