Tiivistelmä:This paper investigates the validity of the claim that two orientations to work (instrumental and involved) are culturally determined by comparing responses to a question relating to acquisition of wealth by inheritance in some developed countries with those obtained in this study in less developed countries. The results showed no significant difference in orientations to work between developed and less developed countries. The findings suggest that the role of nonfinancial rewards in explaining employees' orientation to work in developed and less developed countries is more important than we already realize and that cultural influence on job attitude is insignificant.
