| Tiivistelmä: | This paper aims at presenting a holistic interpretation of the scope of knowledge (here as: knwl.) management (KM) processes the intent of which is to enhance the effectiveness of new product development (NPD). A structured, holistic model of organizational KM incl. practical mechanisms and processes for managing knwl. transfer is developed. Effective KM needs to: acknowledge the multiple organizational levels at which knwl. is deployed, support the production, elicitation and exchange of tacit knwl. and explicit, codified information, thus accommodating and enabling both formal and informal, typically IS/IT enabled knwl. processes. This paper combines propositions about the effective conduct of KM for NPD with a model of holistic KM involving multi-level flux and constructive knwl. transition, identifying practical mechanisms, IS/IT enabled and otherwise, in this context. |
