| Tiivistelmä: | The case study chronicles a publication systems division's efforts to meet its customers' desire for an automated parts catalog lookup system. The transformation of a microfiche publishing service business is examined in applying new and unique electric technology to meet the customers' information retrieval requirements. In the process the company discovered how a properly conceived system could provide significant efficiency improvements in automobile repair operations. Much of the hardware needed for the system was off the shelf. The critical success factors are also illustrated, i.e. continued and intense focus on customer needs, application of new technology, persistence in spite of failures of several products, etc. |
