Littlewoods can be characterized now as one of the high street survivors as retailers, but its mail order catalogues are on the market. Index which was started by Littlewoods, as a rival to the successful Argos stores, is moving into profit ahead of time. Despite being a household name, pools is the most secretive part of its business; Littlewoods has a virtual monopoly /over 75 percent/ of the GBP 750 million pools market.
