Tiivistelmä:The report analyses the fast food market in five key European economies: France, Italy, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom. The key trends are the following - growing industry concentration, diversification of products, greater emphasis on non-traditional foods, wider retail distribution with the expansion of home delivery, rising competition from in-store catering. Detailed statistics on major companies are presented. It is reported that those countries with strong culinary traditions have experienced the least fast food penetration and in these countries, the traditional restaurant with wide choice menu accounts for the dominant share of consumer catering expenditure.
