| Tiivistelmä: | The size of countries is endogenous to politio-economic forces. Recent efforts by economists to study three related questions are discussed in this paper. The questions are: 1) What determines the evolution of the size of countries? 2) Does size matter for economic success? 3) Given the trend toward decentralization and of creation of supernational unions such as the EU, is the meaning of national borders evolving? |
