Tiivistelmä:The management practices of three organizations in the computer industry, one North American, one Japanese and one British owned are described. Although operating in similar marketplaces, markedly different management styles and practices were apparent, with the British company showing much less evidence of "human resource management" activities than the other two. The American company displays an individualistic ethos, underpinned by a strong personal growth and development mentality. The Japanese company in contrast emphasises consensus and collectivism. In the British company the financial goals were very much in evidence, as the main device for integrating the activities of the subunits of the organization.
