Tiivistelmä:The new conservative Prime Minister, Alain Juppe, has now set out the details of his Government's plan to fight unemployment, which seeks to bring about the recruitment of 700,000 people by the end of 1996. Employers are offered recruitment incentives and cuts in social charges, while lower-paid employees benefit from 4% increase in the SMIC minimum wage. The Prime Minister's ambitious objective forms part of his policy of "give and take". He expects that, in exchange for substantial reductions in labour costs, employers will change their attitude to employment, and accept what he sees as their responsibility for the integration of young people.
