Tiivistelmä: | Information systems (IS) can change the competitive position of a firm. A key objective of any firm that wishes to exploit technology well is to ensure a strong interaction between the business plans and the technology plans of the IS group. A number of strategies that companies have used to keep these two plans mutually supportive are explored. Interviews with 10 organizations in a variety of industries investigated a number of questions regarding the selection and implementation of strategic technologies. The general findings can be summarized as follows: 1. organizational structure must ensure maximum interaction between the IS and user groups; 2. the IS group must educate the user about technologies; 3. CEO's attitude is very important. |
