Tiivistelmä:This paper explores patterns of dynamic inconsistency in valuing environmental goods. A model is developed that predicts an individual will value extended access to an environmental good less than avoiding delayed access if time and money are complementary. This value disparity results in a low marginal rate of time preference for avoiding delayed access and a high rate for acquiring extended access. Using the contingent valuation method, we find behavior partially consistent with predictions.
