Tiivistelmä:The sources, extent, and cost of computer system failures are analysed. The digital computers are inherently unreliable because they are prone to total failure. Their great complexity means they can't be properly tested before use. This situation is unlikely to change in the near future, so computers shouldn't be entrusted with life-critical applications. Several ethical issues also emerge for people in the computer industry.
