| Tiivistelmä: | This paper seeks to answer the following question: how best might one improve the standard of living of the large number of poor farmers living in the small rice-growing areas scattered throughout Peninsular Malaysia? More generally, what realistic options does a government , even with substantional resources behind it, have in trying to combat rural poverty, and how effective are these possible policies? The analysis is based on the results of a series of sample surveys, undertaken by Malasyan Department of Agriculture during 1976-80. |
