Tiivistelmä:Distribution problems bore many top managers. Yet, this article presents logistics as the new strategic frontier. Rather than offering a variety of products along the same pipeline, companies can tailor distinct pipelines for groups of customers. A can of Coca-Cola, for example, might go to a vending machine, or it might come with billing services. By competing with logistically distinct businesses, companies satisfy customers and reap new profits. As an illustration K. Murphy describes how a large telecommunications company designed its logistics systems to meet customer demands and product requirements.
