Tiivistelmä:Country risk as an indicator of investment "climate" is important for Slovenia from two aspects.Namely, Slovenia is an importer as well as exporter of capital which primarily increases the utilization of its production capacities. After its independence, Slovenia was introduced in the country risk polls conducted by international financial institutions and these polls represent one of the most important sources for foreign investment motives. In September 1995, Euromoney's ndicators placed Slovenia 74th, and in autumn 1995 it was ranked the 50th.The analysis of selected indicators as compared to other countries can provide a basis for their improvement.Slovenia ranks the lowest in credit rating and in access to international finance. The two Scenarios in the Strategy for the Economic Development of Slovenia by 2000 foresee in their estimates of the country risk a more developed financial system than it is now.As predicted in the most favourable Scenarios Slovenia would in 2000 attain almost four fifths of all possible points which would in autumn 1995 place it 27th. However, in order to improve the country risk rating of Slovenia, a planned approach to its improvement will be required.
