| Tiivistelmä: | In modem economic transactions, a bill is being more and more used as the means of securing claims and as the means of credit.The most important legal provision in preserving the rights deriving from a bill is the protest of a bill.Since the introduction of notaries into the Slovenian legal system, the procedure of a bill protest is in the competence of a notary.The author of the article presents the legal settlement of the protest procedure and gives some practical advice to notaries for their work.He gives a special stress to the different forms of bill protests as well as to various ways of exercising the procedure of protest.Attention is also drawn to the necessity of changing the current practice, which has been introduced in legal procedures of protesting the so called Yugo-bill in the period of the socialist economic system.The author specially emphasises the significance of the two day time limit after the arrival of the bill in protest.The missing of deadline results in the pre-judgement of a bill, i.e. the exemption of drawers from the obligation to pay a bill. |
