| Tiivistelmä: | In controlling quality characteristics, it is sometimes more economical or practical to use a procedure that places observations into categories rather than to attempt to record the actual measurements. Such situations arise in life testing when it may be uneconomical to continually monitor a test unit to determine the time of failure. In such circumstances, as shown in this article, it is possible to test hypotheses, design sampling plans, and use control charts for assessing the parameters of the lifetime distribution with little reduction in efficiency. |
