Tiivistelmä:Unprecedented growth in technological sophistication around the world has led to an escalation in both the supply of and demand for intellectual property. And for such companies as Microsoft, Intel, and Motorola, most of their market derives from intellectual property. Indeed, without patent protection, Silicon Valley and the venture capital community could not exist. U.S. patents, however, are not valid in other countries. To protect an invention internationally, a U.S. firm must consider filing separate applications in each of the countries in which competitive activity is likely to occur.
