Tiivistelmä: | The ecological footprint (EF) method (Wackernagel and Rees, 1996; Wackernagel et al, 1999) provides an interesting approach that relates economic demands on natural capital to the biophysical world which supports human activities. As many have pointed out it is essential that economic activities be related to the real world situation upon which they depend and the EF may address that concern. The EF method finds that developed countries tend to have footprints larger than the available biocapacity, i.e., they have ecological deficits. |
