| Tiivistelmä: | Over the past two years, the Schmalenbach Working Party on "Growth and International Management" has concerned itself with the topic "internal versus external growth". In the present paper, the results of the discussions are summarized in the form of ten statements. The commentaries on the statements reflect the different and sometimes controversial views of the members of the Working Party on aspects such as the advantages and disadvantages of internal and external growth, the impact the capital markets have on the formulation of corporate growth strategies, and the possibilities for generating value through internal and external growth. It is the purpose of the paper to present the results of the Working Party to a wider audience and to encourage a deeper unterstanding and discussion of this highly relevant topic. |
