| Tiivistelmä: | This study analyzed the debate about Turkey's possible membership in the European Union. The analyzed newspaper discussion was published in the French, British, Greek and Turkish press in 2004. The examination paid particular attention to aspects related to the nature of Europe and European identity. The analysis of the coverage clearly indicates that there were great differences between countries. The article also documents a wide divergence of opinions for and against Turkey's bid to become a member of the EU. |
