| Tiivistelmä: | Because of the importance of political violence, repression and military establishments in the development process, they should be given more emphasis in long-term development planning. The preliminary theory described focuses on relationships between fluctuations in economic performance, the strength of political opposition movements, violence, and repression. The system dynamics methodology is used to develop the model. Violence is viewed as cyclic phenomenon, and from longer-term perspective, than customary. An application of the theory to Argentina is described, and consideration is given to what the theory portends to Mexico. |
